So I feel the need to make this topic because I am concerned about some things.

I don’t see as much discussion about banishing as I feel I should. It really concerns me that it is more recommended that people buy protection then it is recommended that people learn to banish. I strongly believe this is a skill that every keeper should possess before starting keeping or at the very least it should be learned as early as possible.

Why is there no section which explains to new members Some basics of how mgick works when it would be useful for keepers to have a basic understanding of the mechanics of magIck.

For example;
The relationship between the conscious and subconscious Mind and how they both work.
Basic energy work
The fundamental mechanics of manifestation
How to banish
How to cleanse
How to cast protection

In my opinion this is information that should be given to members as a PDF file with their first purchase at least.

So I know that some of you might not agree with me on this but I strongly feel that people should be encouraged and empowered to do their own conjurations. I know this is a business but in my experience doing things like this yourself results and much stronger bonds. (and if I’m not mistaken is the point not to create a bond?)

Why doesn’t the encyclopedia list sources?

Let’s just start with these for now. I have more but I feel like this is enough for now.

Its bc not everyone wants to practise magic in any strong form. Many that do either already had skills before coming here; as an example i researched and practiced for around 8 years before coming here, or they gain an interest and ask and they are pointed in the right direction.

Some get into keeping for companionship and thats it, so advising them to purchase protection keeps them safe until and if they gain an interest in furthering their practises. Not wanting to delve into magick is ok, its not to everyones interests. And there are many beginner books on magical practices that can be recommended and pursued.

The reasons that I recommend that people at least learn the fundamental mechanics of magIck is so they have an understanding of for example how to better create a bond with the beings in question.

Would you advise a person to buy a car they can’t drive? Would you advise a person to buy a binding when they have no idea how to work with such beings? I wouldn’t because it not safe and nor is it respectful to these beings

I think we need to take a step back here and look at it, i appreciate the level of commitment you have, and i think most of us may be able to get there, or maybe not.

Truth is, a lot of us are just not that magically able yet, i've read books, hermetic principles and what not, occult information, and other spiritual books, astral projection, akashic records. i plan on trying a few spells but honestly, i don't think ill get anywhere anytime soon.

For some it's easy, magick to me is incredibly difficult. I will always have trouble with it, it's just how it is. This information comes from my spiritual companions, i have trouble manipulating my own energy and keeping a balance. It's like trying to take out vegetable oil from water...with a fork.

Thats the thing, magick is a path i know is inevitable, eventually i will end up doing it, but as of 2 years into spirit keeping i only just now have a curiosity with sigils. I haven't even thought of doing magic yet, or where to start honestly, as i need some feedback on what books are worth getting, and what are not.

It's just one of those things where either you start with it, or you don't. I just have a hard time maintaining a calm energy enough to actually meditate.

just my two cents, it's not for everybody until they are ready, you can't force it, or you'll cause issues with those who would eventually come around to it.

You Communicate with them? I would call that magIck.
Do u cause change to ochre in conformity with will? That’s also magIck
Do you ever call out to them by name? That’s evocation(your calling them forth)

Your actually doing what I think we all should be doing. Your trying to understand the mechanics at play for spirit keepers. I think that this what people should do before purchasing an anything at all.

Look at the people here stumbling in the dark unable to even comunicate with these beings. Now ask your self if it’s wise for such people to work with such things?

Think of it like this. Should you start working with the person who only speaks Spanish before or after learning some your self?

i mean yeah, i only got into spirit keeping because i could already communicate on some level, and i felt i needed protection and companionship due to nothing else working.

i get your point, why do something when you can't even do it yet, you can't go out and make a modern house with your bare hands if you have no idea how to build or survive outside.

I have already started a path on sigil magick, and i plan on just doing that. See how it goes i guess.

Well, I'm new to Spirit Keeping (going on 6 months) and new to magic. I've been working on understanding basic energy work and more or less haven't practiced much as time is limited.

That said, if you feel the forums are a good place for this and that none of Ash or Magnolia's (or others') posts have addressed this properly for a new spirit keeper, I say go ahead and share your knowledge. To me, it's great to see your concern, but I'd rather see the information rather than the criticism. 2hp
