White arts elemental magic

Postby StarPlatinum » Wed Jan 09, 2019 12:54 pm

Are there forms of elemental magic that utilize all elements purely for the benefit of all? This can include on earth, but more interestingly on higher/more magickal planes. Maybe it's usefull to divide between unmaterialized and materialized elemental magick even, but I'm just a novice on this.
I'd say there are probably many as the elements are "neutral" in their nature, but I'm still looking for inspiration. If I try to imagine applications I came to the following:

Wind to cleanse, freshen, free bring about change.
Fire to burn and purify unhealthy and obsolete energy or to energize.
Water to cool and dissolute stiff forms and maybe utilize it's mystical properties for enchantments.
Earth to ground oneself, maybe even literally, or protection from damage via stoneskin.
Or just on overall ritualistic dance-like use that doesn't intend to harm but just creates beauty and joy.

I am gratefull of inspiration of all variety with the exception, that the use doesn't create suffering for anyone or worded differently, that only intends/creates wellbeing.

Elemental magick is neutral, you can use it for WA or DA (or BA if you know how : P).

Yes, I figured that. But I'd like to hear how people applicate that creatively to help others. As insight and inspiration of sorts. In means of fighting, I have tons of ideas. But that's not the way I want to go until I learn how to use it in a nonharmful way without any lust towards fighting. If you have experience in that, I'd really like to hear that too. :)

Mmmh? I don't understand : /
1. Fighting is not equal to DA. There are fighting methods/strategies that don't harm the opponent.
2. Your examples at the first post are already good ideas. On the other hand, cleansing can be done not just in WA intention.

Hi StarPlatinum - I don't practice any magic so I can't really assist. I just wanted to comment that my Air Dragon has suggested the use of Air, even in reference as wind, to cleanse, free, bring about change and swiftness of movement, agility, etc. Your idea resonates well with what he's told me.

In reference to what you suggest about fire, my Manananggal vampire just suggested using fire as a grounding and cleansing method to me yesterday. This resonates with your above idea as well.

I know there is the possibility to fight without enjoying to hurt. I'm just seeking inspiration for the application of elemental magic that doesn't "get out of hand" for example using fire to fight someone is endangering the life of the opponent and might even burn the surroundings. One idea I had was "gentle pressure fist" (don't make fun of my habit to name moves :P I don't actually announce them out loud. lol) It's an air type elemental ability that, by punching, utilizes air pressure and wind to knock opponents back, slow them down and in the progress even cleanses and calms. But you're right if there are examples for non-combative elemental usage I'd really like to hear them too.
Maybe something along the lines of: "Wind of Change" Creating an air current (maybe with a fan as a tool) to uplift, boost, or cleanse the targets.

What are the fighting strategies that you speak of Darkwing?

“"get out of hand" for example using fire to fight someone is endangering the life of the opponent and might even burn the surroundings.”

Maybe don’t use fire if you can’t control it
Fire doesn’t need to burn. Fire can be used to heal and cleanse as well. It’s all about your intentions As far as magIck goes.

I have always liked the idea that naming something gives it power.

Why not? Announcing it can distract the opponent : P

Fighting strategy that is not damaging the opponent, including neutralizing, letting them spend their stamina, run away and call the police, etc : P
