Some time ago I visited Accra in Ghana. When I returned to Bristol, England, I found myself writing a book about a psychic vampire who arrives from there one day in the future, on a beaten up old ship at the nearby port of Avonmouth. She starts feeding on the minds of people around her, which is what "vodus" - an old West African spirit term - do. The detective assigned to the case is carrying a secret. He also has a vodu spirit inside; one that is waiting to pounce on anyone he falls in love with.
