How do you type @(insert Forum member's name)? ...So that it shows up red in a Forum post and it notifies the member that they've been mentioned?

I've seen posts with my name @Lewk in bold red and then seen a notification that I've been mentioned.

But how did you do that? Is there a code you use? I can't work it out.

Put the @ , and begin typing the username you want to mention. A list will pop up where you can then click on the member name.

What it will do is create this code: [ mention ] name [ /mention ]

So you can also just use that (without spaces).

Okay...it just doesn't do that on my PC. No list pops up for me. Maybe if I type the code it'll work now. I'll see when I post this.

Strange, I don't know why it wouldn't work for you. I only noticed this feature recently however and wonder if it was a new implementation as they update the forum software from time to time; in that case it might need tinkering with. I find it a very convenient feature so I hope it can be enabled for you.

You're not the only one. It literally tells me that I cannot use certain BBCodes, in this case mention.

Hi Lewk,

when you go to your profile and under board preferences (Edit posting defaults) do you have enable BBCode by default enabled?

Also when you reply to someone in full editor down the bottom is a check box with Disable BBCode, does that one have a tick in it?

However, yes, I do have enable BBCode by default enabled and, no, I don't have the check box with Disable BBCode ticked, down the bottom in full editor mode.

I've been manually typing BB code here for years now with no issues. It just won't let me use this recent [ mention ] code.

The red error message that pops up is "You cannot use certain BBCodes: [ mention ]." (It probably won't even let me copy & paste that, so I've put an extra space in.)

Sounds like an issue for the developers. I think I'll email support about it. May take a while to be fixed, even so.

I tested it and [ mention ] is working for me although that doesn't help you much lol, hope you get it sorted mate.
