What are you reading right now?

Do you know a good book that can help someone on their path? Or, are you looking for a certain type of book?

I usually have a few book going. I recently finished Once by James Herbert , and just started on The Taker by Alma Katsu. The jacket describes it as being " part historical novel, part supernatural page turner" it's a love story about unrequited love. I'm also reading The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

My reading list has been non-existent since I can't borrow from the library yet until they determined that I'm not an illegal immigrant.

For now I'm consoling myself by reading free e-books. Now: The Vampyre, A Tale by John Polidori.

I miss my books.

Aside form textbooks? Not much, LOL! However, I must admit, despite the typically dry nature of history classes my "Gardner's Art Through the Ages: The Western Perspective 13th ed.volume 1" By Fred S. Kleiner is actually a decent read. The only problem is, I tend to yell at the book when something doesn't quite line up the way I think it should, like the very brief section on the Greek Gods. It's an intro level course, I can't expect an in depth dissertation here XD Besides, this book is more interested in distinguishing between different styles of columns from one decade to the next than the lives of gods and goddesses that sat in the pediments ::rofl::

Aside from all that nonsense, I have a book form the library that is begging to be read. It is "The Tarot: History, Symbolism, and Divination" by Robert M. Place. It caught my eye because it takes a deep look into the roots and development of tarot through the ages. And I'm a sucker for history and cultural stuffs XD I like to know how things got to where they are today. Unfortunately, I've only gotten a few pages in due to my schedule

Thank you all for sharing! you!

Starfire - No, you may not be cheeky! :silly:

Grey - Ah, so that's where my diary went. Thief!

Goldilocks - Hmmm, I hope it's not me that lives next-door to you, if so, you've got me all wrong, I am very normal!

Dilvs - My Booky Wook! I picked that up a few years ago because I love Russell Brand, he's hilarious, but did not make it very far, a chapter or so perhaps. It digresses too much, don't get me wrong, it's funny but I kinda want it to get to the point/scandalous parts.

Sadlotus: have you read the other books in that series? Yes, it is pulp beach read, but i love them. Pendergast is one of my favorite two characters in literature...more interesting than Poe's detective or Holmes in my opinion. Also really liked Smithback (who i identify with far too much)...cant remember if he was in that one or not (thiugh im thinking not).

If you havent read the rest, i recommend them...especially the one you are crrently reading and Cabinet of Curiositues, for an interesting read on meditation.

Wow, that's a lot further than me! I think I perhaps made the first chapter or so. He was talking about his childhood, his mum and dad in particular, something about a skip??? I can't remember!!! I will return to it one day.
