We are lucky to live in an age where people are engaging in these projects, meaning that we don't have to get passports and travel all over the world to ask for permission to see these original documents in person. Not too many folks have got that kind of free time and money, since most of us have to earn a living and can't just go traipsing off to foreign libraries on a moment's notice.

So now we can spend all that time we would have spent travelling, doing other things... like learning Latin and Greek so we can actually read the documents.
