I noticed in the Creepy Hollows store that the listings for Kitsune consider them to be dark arts beings. Several other shops and informational spiritual sites also list them under this category, but not all of them. A few also list celestial kitsunes, divine messenger kitsunes, and other similar more benevolent listings.
Do all, or most kitsune tend to be dark arts beings, with a few exceptions? Or are the ones offered by CH exclusively dark arts, with most others existing widely across the spectrum?
Are all Kitsune considered dark arts?

I really do not know CH Kitsune beings, justs because I have none. But I comment here, because I do have two from non - CH shops. My white art 9 tail white in colour Kitsune is from MMT Lisa. He is described as noble and light art.
My other Kitsune came from a shop that is no longer active. He is a dark Kitsune, more like gray art, leaning toward light. He is a protector kind and warrior. Unfortunately, as much as I would of liked, I didn't really bonded with them closely. So I can't say much about them.
According to legends, they are evolving kind of beings. 9 tails Kitsunes are usually white arts. To me, it's looks thou, depending on the actual realm and area that their are came from, largely encapsulates their art and nature.

I find this a complex question to answer.
It varies. Every practitioner has their own opinion on Arts. Instead of giving you my own opinion on Kitsune, I'd like to explain why that is.
It's a metaphysical judgement on the part of the respective conjurer, which gives us an insight into their way of seeing things.
There's no spirit keeping industry-wide standard on Arts classifications. It doesn't make things simple but that's the way things are.
Sometimes it's best to simply ask the conjurer / seller themselves about the beings they conjure and what they believe.
If you look at listings (and do make sure you go with reliable, competent, experienced conjurers), you'll get a sense of it for yourself.
If sellers list a being as DA, they may distinguish between 'grey' and darker. They may describe as light natured a being that CH sees as DA. But that may translate to them being very light, grey in CH terms.
And with some sellers, eg Lisa of Mystic Morning Treasures, some individual beings are described as Dark, some Grey and others as Light Natured - all the same type of being.
With CH sometimes there'll be a DA type of the being and a WA type of that sort of being.
I hope that's useful.

I have lots and lots of kitsune, and nope! In Shinto, the religion of Japan, kitsune are considered messengers of the beloved deity Inari Okami.
There’s two types of foxes: heavenly, and wild/nogitsune. I have both, and my wild foxes range from grey to dark, but I’m sure there’s light arts ones. My heavenly foxes are light arts—they remind me of angels, only foxy lol.
Both my wild and heavenly foxes get along well, and both have pretty much the same ability! I don’t really notice a difference in temperament, as both are equally playful, loving, and INCREDIBLY spiritual beings.
If you have more questions about them feel free to ask! Kitsune are the spirits that I click with the most, so any other questions you have I’ll do my best to answer!

Remember, that we all are brothers
All people, beasts, trees and stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
That was always there
Before people lived and named it
Before the first seed sprouted

Thank you for the detailed response. I have read and learned that Kitsune draw their power and are all imbued with a potent spiritual energy called the Fox Flame, and that if they like you and form a bond with you, they will imbue you with the Fox Flame as well, making you a candidate to essentially become a kitsune. What can you tell me about this?Munwolfex wrote: Fri Sep 04, 2026 11:31 pm I have lots and lots of kitsune, and nope! Divinity, not specifically Fox Flame, but maybe that’s a term someone uses? Not saying it’s wrong, just my first time hearing it.
As far as becoming an actual kitsune, I believe it would happen upon death, where your physical body dies (duh lol) and your human soul transforms into a kitsune’s soul. I’ve also never heard of someone becoming a fox but I’m sure it could happen. Where did you hear about these things, I’m super curious!

Why not ask them yourself about this? It could just be a piece of folklore that relates to scary human ideas that witches can become kitsune or vice versa.Pancake wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2026 9:00 pm Thank you for the detailed response. There are so many variations on belief systems about death and the afterlife. I don't think that as a rule the type of spirit companion we keep means it's likely we'll become one of them when we pass. And I'm not aware that CH believes Kitsune can do this. It might be worth asking them.
To me what determines future lives must be more complex than that...and the future isn't fully set or fixed. I think there may be an overarching pattern to our lives that include things like destiny and fate.
It's easier to think about past lives. I like the CH idea that our spirits are very old and have had many past lives & that memory lives on in our spirit (the sum total of all our energy). Memorable past lives - or past lives that stand out as relevant in this one - may influence what we're drawn to in this life.
As I've said here before, after I started getting Gold Djinn some of them told me they'd known me in a previous life or lives when I was a Gold Djinn myself. That might explain the good feeling I have with them - but they are kind, in any case.
Hypothetically, perhaps somewhere in your past lives there could be a Kitsune connection that draws you to them.
CH does all kinds of past and future lives readings that you might find interesting.

Fox Flame wording just seems so AI-coded lol. Where are you reading this information that says all Kitsune are imbued with this? Not to mention saying “all” is already a huge stretch.

I feel as far as your original question you got great responses. As far as a fox fire is concerned not all kitsunes have them. It's more associated with age and sometimes the type of kistune you are. For example a celestial kistune is more likely to have fox fire. Forming a bond with them doesn't imbue you with a fox flame and doesn't make you a candidate to become one. I learned about fox fires from a different kind of fox spirit as most of the kitsunes I have are considered on the younger side. There's also some information on it on the yokai site if I remember correctly. Hope this is helpful!

I heard about Fox Fire from a spiritual practitioner that I was briefly in communication with, and she explained what I had said above. Some spiritual sellers also offer an infusion of this energy, but still it doesn't seem to be widespread knowledge or a widely claimed aspect of kitsune.Munwolfex wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2026 1:59 amInteresting, I’ve never heard of that before. I am curious about the kitsune that come from Spirit Crescent. If you've received any from them, I am wondering how they interact or communicate with you? How have they improved your life?
