Questions Regarding Offerings

Hi everyone,
I just got my first companion from CH, a Succubus and this is my first time being a spirit keeper. So far I've been reading these threads and the Encyclopedia so I've been keeping her in my thoughts, talking to her when I'm alone, been to the park and watched a movie while talking to her in my mind, yesterday I even left her a written note welcoming her home.
With that said, I'm a bit unclear as to how to make an offering. I was told by the CH crew that if you don't want to create an altar (that's a little beyond me right now), I could just have an offering dish for her and that any dish would do.
I read that Succubi like chocolate and mine specificaly also likes the smell of oranges, so I thought I would offer her some traditional orange-flavored chocolate that we have in my country.
My question is, how do I do that? Do I just set out a dish and say it's for her? How long do I leave the chocolate there? Do I take it out of the wrapper? After I take it out do I eat it?
Sorry, as you can tell I'm very new to this, but I'm trying to my best to be welcoming to her
