Controlling/Overpowering Gods?

I didn't think that it was possible to mess around with deities or Gods but then I remembered that inone version of the 'Drawing Down the Moon' ritual, supposedly Ancient Thessalian witches would force the Moon Goddess Selene from the sky to 'extract her blood' for power implying that Selene didn't consent to the ritual.

Are there any books,sources or any other rituals where people in ancient or modern times would overpower or control Gods somehow like they did with Selene?

I don't need an ethics lesson since I am not asking to attempt those rituals myself. I am only asking out of curiosity and to read more on this.
