I have seen on this forum that some people prefer to meditate with binaural Beats and some prefer to just meditate in silence. Was wondering if there were any advantages to either of these (I'd imagine it's more down to personal preference at the end of the day), I have personally tried both but don't really see much of a difference? Looking back at my notes on each meditation session, it seems that getting into a deeper trance is easier when listening to binaural beats (for me at least), and the first time I (think) that I heard my spirit was when I was listening to binaural beats. Funnily enough, the word I heard her say was "Doughnuts" which was completely and totally random. Wasn't even thinking of food at the time
Anyway feel free to share which you prefer and why, and if there is any sort of advantages to either. I personally like sitting in silence as I don't usually get much time to have complete silence due to living with family However, sometimes I feel more inclined to listen to binaural beats, maybe that's my spirit slightly influencing me, not sure.
Silence or binaural beats when meditating?

I like to switch it up a bit. Although, I've been using binaural beats for a while now and they do help me get into more relaxed states faster.

I say both as well, especially if I'm aiming for an OBE or a lucid dream. Meditation is more than just what you hear pr don't hear. It has to do with the time of day you pick, how prepared your conciousness is, and so on and so forth.

This probably reflects the types of meditation I've learned...
Binaural beats mess up my hearing and my consciousness - and I don't like to focus on other people's energies when meditating. So for me, the quieter the better - easier to focus on myself and go within.
One time when I lived in an ashram (1975) the guy in charge thought it'd be nice for us all to meditate while Tubular Bells was playing. Ok that was nice - but it wasn't the same as a deep meditation in which you go beyond all the senses, including hearing, and completely focus inside on the object of meditation. I learned that type of meditation in 1973 and remember when I was first practicing it where I was staying the guy in the flat next door was playing Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon a lot. Nice music but again my best meditations have been when there have been no audible distractions.

You must stay on the path. Do not leave it.

I can only handle binaural beats for a very short time. The frequencies mess me up. But I can hear the frequencies emitted by most large electronics, like TVs amd computer monitors.
Skrillex, zomboy and knife party on the other hand, are a solid go to for me when I need to center. As well as escala, eklipse and Lindsey sterling... so go figure
I do keep trying to use the binaural beats though. I feel like I'm lasting longer and longer

Binaural beats is OK. I prefer being around the ocean and trees, with the trees around me. Being around these elements charges me. I feel like an energy sponge and I love it.

Can I choose neither? I prefer using sapien medicine's theta or delta audio field. Or isochronic.

Yeah I've noticed that as well, however I don't really get that much quiet time around the house so when I do I just prefer to have no sound whatsoeverznlz wrote:I like to switch it up a bit. I've started to learn that as well, there seems to be a lot more going on that what's on the surface with meditating. Should probably do more research about it to get the best results when meditating, though I'm quite limited to when I can actually meditate (Either very early in the morning or late at night).Muse wrote:I say both as well, especially if I'm aiming for an OBE or a lucid dream. I find that listening to music whilst meditating at any time is just too distracting for me. Listening to ambient and natural sounds seems to be common when meditating as well, though I have aknowledged that it is an option I haven't really tried it myself. Should probably give it a shot and see how it goes, thanksSooty wrote:Binaural beats is OK. I prefer being around the ocean and trees, with the trees around me. Huh, honestly didn't think there were much other options in terms of meditating. I assumed that sitting in silence or listening to binaural beats were the two main ways people would meditate, guess there are more options than I initially thought. Also what's the difference between isochronic and binaural beats? How do they function differently in terms of listening to them whilst meditating?jobzzet wrote:Can I choose neither?
