Spirit Keeping & Paranormal Collecting Forum

I've been putting off asking anyone about this but I really don't know what to do about it anymore. When I sleep in my room at night, at the foot of my bed I can hear footsteps of something large and it even rocks/bounces my bed most of the time. I've not had much experience with unwelcome paranormal activity at all so I'm not 100% sure it's anything, but I get this awful deep sensation of dread whenever I sense the thing's presence. That crosses the spooky line for me. I was hoping that maybe it was some kind of dreameater since I haven't had any nightmares recently, but I don't expect that they would cause such a feeling like the dread it causes me. Or maybe I'm just not used to its energy.. Not sure. I don't want to try to bind it or anything until I at least know what it is but I'm not sure how to contact it. I'll probably want to try to get rid of it later. At least get it out of my house or discourage it from being so creepy I guess. Any ideas on what it might be or what I should do/how to communicate with it?

I'm feeling ok about protection I think. I smoke cleanse often, cast protective spells, and I have wards scattered about, should I put a ward nearer to where the thing makes all the noise?

Do you keep any bound spirits or entities? If so, have you asked if any of them are causing this to get your attention or attempt to communicate with you?

So this is interesting... Have you tasked your spirits with keeping unbounds out of your space as a House Rule? I do, and typically the only problem I've had was with an entity capable of manifestation that could hide himself from them (my imp friend). There was an unbound that used to hang around and they would tell me he kept wanting to talk to me, claiming to be an ancestor, but when I asked them to have him prove himself and provide a name he would not, so I did not allow him in (and I believe he's not around any more). Anyways, if they are tasked to keep unbounds out this usually will help.

Now, it's not a perfect line of defense, but it typically works very well in my experience.

Outside of that, if you do have them tasked to protect against unbounds, is it only "against negative or malicious" unbounds? If it's worded that way, then this spirit or entity is allowed to pass if he has no negative intentions. So, it could be a matter of just communicating to the unbound to please respect your space and stop bothering you.

Of course, you might also try to communicate and find out, in that scenario, who they are and what they want from you to begin with, if anything. They might find your spirit keeping interesting and just be trying to get your attention. If you can discern spirits / entities at all, you might also try to see what type of spirit they are. Maybe it's a potential new member of your keep.

I see! I haven't tasked them with that yet, I'll do that tonight, thank you for reminding me !! I am hoping it is something with good or neutral intention too because I would love to take them in if they are interested. I'm still getting used to spirits on a personal level so I can't quite tell the difference between types of spirits (besides that I have an idea of what it couldn't be), do you think if I asked that they would answer? Also, should there be any differences when trying to communicating with it, or should I just talk to it like I would bound spirits?

Definitely try tasking them with a House Rule that any unbound must be escorted out of your home and off your property, and kept out. You can alternatively say any "unbound with negative or malicious intent" instead of just "unbound", and that would mean anything positive or neutral intent would be allowed.

As for communicating, that depends partially on your own communication ability. Whatever method you do with your spirits could still work well, but because they are not bound it may be a little bit more difficult.

I am going to outline how I would approach the communication, but I want to issue a disclaimer here. I am not an expert in dealing with unbound spirits or entities, and I cannot be held responsible for something going wrong (or the spirit being a total &#^). Do this at your own risk!

I would recommend cleansing your space prior to the attempt, grounding and shielding, and ask any spirits or entities in your keep to keep guard and protect you. When I sought out my little imp friend I had my spirits guard all four cardinal directions and I specifically chose the spirits in my keep that would be the best choice to do so. Protections spirits would always be the go-to here.

Then address unbound spirit (or entity) specifically according to what you know of it - like "I am attempting to contact the spirit (or entity)that has been doing XYZ". State also that this is the only spirit (or entity) you are attempting to contact and that any others should go their way in love and peace, with respect.

Utilize whatever communication method at that point that works for you - telepathy is always preferred, but that could be pendulum, tarot, etc - and once you think you have reached them you can ask them questions and request that they please answer you, with respect. Again, all of that depends on your experience level and ability to discern your own thoughts from something else's.

At the end, thank them for coming to talk to you and ask them to depart with peace and love, respectfully. Let them know you will be clearing the space again so now is the time they should leave. Once done, do another cleansing and/or banishing.

And with regards to the questions... if they do not answer, to get angry, upset, start treating them with disrespect, etc... that's a quick path toward angering something that you can't recognize. A really bad idea. If you get no answers, just thank them anyway and proceed with the after-cleansing and/or banishing.
