I respectfully suggest that CH hire an editor

I know, I know, that would add to work time and shipping delays. Maybe it's the pedantic Virgo in me but I think that the errors I'm seeing cause a lot of confusion and interfere with customers' ability to utilize their bindings correctly, plus promote misinformation. And they probably add to the mountain of HD tickets, some of which could've been avoided. (but Customer Service is really great for handling my questions)

In my own experience/observations, this is what I have found so far:

- typos, inaccuracies, and broken images in the CH Encyclopedia (I also feel that copyrighted images should be credited or replaced)

- typos and formatting errors on my binding paperwork

- typos causing confusion on what my spirits' actual names are (either a misspelling or two different names are listed)

- binding title and description not matching

Much of the Norse information really needs some corrections:
-When words are spelled with that weird "d" looking character, it should just be written out as "d" or even "dh" (sometimes Odin and Skadi are spelled with the "dh")... like we all know Earth is Midgard, not Miogaror.
-I got a binding of the god Mani from the Custom Norse Immortal listing, and the paperwork says He's a goddess.
-Sunna isn't a "goddess of charms," She's the goddess of the Sun. "Sol" is another name for Her, and not some separate male god of the sun.
-I can't figure out why Hod is considered god of winter. That's certainly not His greatest claim to fame, lol. The goddess Skadi would be more appropriate for that.
-Baduhenna is a Frisian goddess, not Norse.
-Eostre is so obscure that no one really knows whether She was an actual goddess. She certainly wasn't part of the Norse pantheon.
-Hjuki and Bil are not children of the moon, but were taken by Mani and follow Him in the heavens. They are so obscure that no one really knows what Their mystic significance is.
-Tanfana (or Tamfana) is another really obscure Germanic goddess, not Norse.
-Zisa is also an obscure Germanic goddess, and only Grimm makes any connection with Her to the Norse gods. (like with Eostre, there just isn't enough evidence to back up his version of mythology)
-Perhaps a Teutonic/Frisian Immortal category should be introduced, as well as Anglo-Saxon and Baltic.

- I ordered a binding of the Egyptian Immortal Pakhet, and my paper says "Pekhat" ... I just had to shake my head at that one, probably not worth bothering the HD about it since there is no such entity.
I could go on another rant about the gods listed in the Egyptian Immortal category ... like the inclusion of Greco-Egyptian deities, and it'd be great if the generally-accepted Kemetic spellings were given also. And clarifying/cleaning up some of the general information about each one.

Okay I know that spirit/deity information can be subjective, or a scholarly vs. UPG thing, but still.

LOL, I feel you. Honestly, it's not just a CH thing. >.> The metaphysical community, in general, is terrible at editing their stuff. >.< Sometimes, you just got to take matters into your own hands. A while back I was guided to the prebound Gargoyles. Their listings were so riddled with simple errors(mostly gender pronoun confusion) it was frightening. I got so annoyed I sent in a HD ticket and got them fixed up.

It seems most the ones I helped are gone now. Which makes me happy. I also got a Gargoyle from the SRA program soon after which makes me think she was watching the listings. lol

I also recently pointed out to them that they had listed Arachne in the DAs SRAs, when they classify her as an immortal.

CH and elsewhere (ಠ_ಠ) would totally benefit from dedicated editors. In the mean time. Don't just let it slide. Let them know your grievances. I guess this thread counts as doing just that. I mean, though, don't be afraid to drop a HD ticket. They can't fix what they don't know is broken.

Yes. I got a truly wonderful Ki-lin and a Djinn who had been around forever. The cause? When added to the cart, they were not discounted when they should have been, and since both were C5T3, they were pricey without discounts. I asked about it...they fixed the error, and I have two spirits I was very attracted to.

Maybe I should not admit this....but there is another flaw in the store cart. I can keep a spirit there for days while I decide on it or wait for a paycheck. Most stores kick everything that has been in the cart out at midnight. If someone ASKS they can kick it out, but usually this works, since you cannot add anything to the cart that is 'out of stock'.and most folks assume that it has been purchased already.

I was really unsure about posting this or just keeping it between me and the HD. (ha can't believe I missed the "no Odin in drop-down list" thing)
But I thought it would be good to make people aware to check their paperwork and orders carefully; as customers I think it's our responsibility to make sure we got what we intended, and that we understand how to utilize it.
I know typos happen but I'd been thinking that many of my tickets could've been avoided if CH employees had double-checked the orders. Formatting or punctuation is minor (and I don't send in tickets about that), but knowing the right name of my spirit is important!
I've also noticed the gender discrepancies in the listings too, it'll start out by saying "she" then change to "he" or vice versa. I don't think I've bought any like that though ... and it's possible that I passed up something because I was confused, lol.
And if my binding says Astral Play but the description is something completely different, how do I know the code words are correct? Things like that.
I also feel there is a lot of misinformation in the pagan community; some things are open to debate but errors like wrong gender or wrong region should really be pointed out.
At the same time I hoped to encourage civilized discussion and further research. I mean, I really hope people aren't just buying spirits and Immortals because they sound cool ... take the time to learn more about them and the culture they're from. Don't jump on Eostre because you read about Her in a Neil Gaiman book, for instance.

I admit though that I've liked the feature of being able to hold something in my cart until I was done rounding out my order, which I may work on for several days. ^_^

As for other sellers, oh yes there are folks I want to give business advice to but that is beyond the scope of this thread, lol. Really though it's a good practice for any business to watch out for mistakes and oversights the best they can, while customers remain vigilant also.

One thing (and this is NOT just CH, this is almost every meta seller I see) that I wish sellers would do is CREDIT THE ORIGINAL ARTIST IF THEY USE THEIR WORK AS A LISTING IMAGE.

OhmyGods, I cannot stand that. Having used to be an active artist (I'm not anymore), I know what it's like to work so hard on a drawing, painting, whatever medium, share it online, only to have people save it and post it on other websites and either claim it as their own or not give a discredit.

I know it can be hard sometimes to find the original artist. Sometimes they delete their online portfolios, the original images, sometimes the images are on a private view page. Right now I am trying to find the original artist of a work and I'm having a hard time, but I'm still looking. Trust me, I know it can be hard to track down an original post by the original artist.

I know it can also be a pain to actually gain permission to use an image in the first place.

If you're not going to get the artists permission, and if you're not going to credit them, the least you can do is say "Image does not belong to me." Or, something. Give a discredit.

Again, this is NOT just CH where I see this. I see this on most sellers listings.

While I don't disagree with you at all, as I have found some of this myself and can be rather personally nitpicky.. I have always gone into CH already knowing the information, the origins, background, proper spelling and terms, etc. when it comes to the immortals.
I agree that it would do any seller well in the community to know their stuff and double check things (of course according to their own view as well as some of this may be based on their unique perspective or experience and not an error), but at the same time I would really hope that the individual customer is doing their own research and partaking in more than one source to build their knowledge. I think it's very important, as well to develop a finely attuned - even basically attuned - energy discernment so you can tell for yourself what you have.
Once again, it doesn't cast aside the responsibility of the seller, but I hope for people to work on their own knowledge and discernment enough that there's not any serious issue.

This is why I draw practically everything for our shop. Even images found through Google belong to an artist on the net somewhere.
