Hi, I am just wondering, several times I read in the forum and also I got reply once from a seller "it must be an unbound spirit acting like that and pretending to be your spirit". My question is, if a keeper has protective entities with assigned protection tasks, why aren't those protecting from unbounds?

For what it's worth (I'm on the learning path, not a master or practitioner)...

Sometimes that is down to vagueness on the part of the spirit keeper, I think. They may not have set an explicit rule or permanent task of keeping every single unbound away. I recall threads here that have said that some unbounds have known us in previous lives and look to reconnect, so our spirits may let them through. Some are said to bring life lessons that we are destined to learn from. Maybe some trickster spirits are not actually malicious and get let through if we have a pre-existing connection or they're bringing a life lesson?

I think it's more disturbing if we have spirits that specialise in protecting us from malicious spirits yet one seems to have come through.

I suspect sometimes we can be at fault. If we are psychically incautious perhaps and somehow link to a malicious spirit - not sure how to describe that, or if it even makes sense. Maybe a good example would be having top class personal bodyguards with you when you go out clubbing then you insult the local gangster who owns the club, then complain to your bodyguards when you get hit. Then you go back there and it happens again and again.

I just think that sometimes some of us may need to practise psychic safety first a bit more. Take some responsibility for our own psychic hygiene. Also I think when we connect really well and closely with our spirits that makes it easier for them to help or protect us. If we just rely on the fact that we have them - they're there somewhere - and don't connect closely, but remain psychically open to those unwelcome energies or spirits, we may continually find ourselves linking to them unconsciously while our conscious mind says it doesn't want to.

Straying into Shadow issues - you know when people psychologically fear something but seem to attract what they fear into their lives, until they work it out? I suspect we can do that with meta things too. There's another phenomenon that can happen, even when we're magicians (in fact the hermeticist Franz Bardon thought it can be worse for a magician, even if they are fully aware of the phenomenon!) He called it Larvae or Schema. There are other perspectives on it and other term are used - it's a form of projection. Basically we can trigger via fear, anxiety or worry a real metaphysical phenomenon that can affect us and our lives. It is more than mere imagination and those who are psychically sensitive may be more prone to it than the average person.

(He described it as some of our mental energy being leached off and developing a life of its own, being fed every time we worry about that worry. So he taught thought control as a first step in his magical system.)

Lewk's post covers a lot of bases and I can't add much to it. I do want to reinforce this from personal experience; if you have protective spirits around then by default they are absolutely working at keeping out unbounds they perceive as being capable of malicious acts.
However, you also would need to have a variety of protective types/measures surrounding you, because different protective presences specialize in different levels of or angles of protective magic and it isn't a one-size-fits-all deal.

If you do have many angles covered with protection then the unbounds coming through are probably not a serious threat + you haven't tasked your spirits to particularly shut out 'ALL' unbounds clearly enough (some part of you is still inviting of them). You have to get down to a very clear dialogue with your spirit guards (as has already been mentioned) but you also need to decide what level of protection you actually desire/need in your life and fill in the blanks accordingly.

Should you be attracting tricksters there is a reason for it and I'd confront the trickster, try to get to know them and what their intentions actually are. I have beings in my life who would mess with me or test me on and off and they are now some of my closest associates. You never know what's really going on unless you make an effort to directly confront the situation.

This actually highlights for me something I need to have a talk about with my protectors and energy healers. Removing any inadvertent attachments developed accidentally. Like if you accidentally touch a piece of jewelry or an antique not knowing there is nasty energies attached to it or you go in somewhere and a hitchhiking spirit who isn't strictly nice for you to have starts following you. I try to always keep up my psychic hygiene/protection as covered as possible and most everything said here I was aware of but there are always hidden corners to shine a light into somewhere and this was one of them.

@draco_star898 what do you do and recommend for psychic hygiene?

There is also a spell for that in the shop btw,

I have made a few orders and I can't vouch for CH effectiveness yet myself, one spell already has failed me, but it may take a while to go on full effect, so I'm yet to see.

Thank you, everyone, for your replies. It makes sense. I let go of self protections for a while and ended up with some nasty trickster pretending to be my spirit, it seems. I am not sure how this happened as I am very much a lover of protection when dealing with metaphysics and not a newbie, feels almost like I have been influenced by the trickster in someway to put down my protection to the minimum. I will spare you the details, but it was continuous harassment for many months, I have no mental disease whatsoever, just to make things clear, so I am sure this was not just "all in my mind". Now I put the protection wall high again with spells and angel magick, did some psychic hygiene ritual as well, I will give it a while and see. My entity told me he was unable to send him away for some reason, so I had to do some work myself too.

It all depends on what kind of technique you feel comfortable with. I use Angel magick banishing rituals and also I do cleaning of my chakras from attachments. I also have various CH spells, the Great wall of protection is one I am using at the moment https://shop.creepyhollows.com/great-wa ... r-orb.html I also have the lazy orb https://shop.creepyhollows.com/power-fo ... r-orb.html and many other spells.

How is your experience with the Great wall of protection and the lazy orb so far?
I have these two on my wish list too. Are they worth getting?

I can not say much about the Great Wall of Protection, as I bought it time ago but just started using it. And the lazy orb has many other types of spells, it does enhance your psychic senses, it is worth trying it.
