Totem Animals Info!

I need some info! About three years ago, I started to sense a spirit of an Owl, in my mind's eye I can see her clearly, she is a beautiful site, so I decided to honor her & purchased an Owl Pendant to show appreciation this lovely Owl! Anyhow, the feeling got stronger, I kept sensing this Owl & felt her close by, about a year & a half ago, when I was at work doing the closing shift, I stepped outside to get some air, my senses prompted me to look up, an Owl flew over my head, it was close enough for me to see it, like it wanted me to see it! so hopefully someone can answer my questions, would the Owl be my Totem or Animal Spirit Guide? Or a messenger?

From a Shamanic perspective, we can have many spirit/totem guides. The owl though, is definitely where I would start if I were you. What they can lend you is the wisdom and unveiling of your journey, opening the darkness in front of you.

In some circles they are seen as harbingers or messengers of bad things. However, one that follows you for a long time seeks a connection with you to share wisdom.

I had chosen to connect with it last year due to many dreams messages & felt she had something to share with me, some of it was navigating thru the darkness while keeping the light to see my way thru, I sense this Owl is a female, but could be wrong, since Owls are mysterious in many ways that is the one thing this Owl is being elusive about!

Instead of separating it into a question of whether it's your totem animal or your spirit guide, the true answer is that you seem to have an innate connection with this Owl. Would it really make a difference if it was a totem animal, a spirit guide or a messenger? There really isn't. What is real and tangible is the dreams and messages you have received from this Owl, helping you out in your life and guiding you out from the darkness. What you can delve deeper into is whether you have a connection to just this Owl, or to all Owls in general, which would make you appreciate the traits and beauty of Owls, and perhaps there is something to learn there.

Good point Keriix! I always loved Owls & felt some kind of appreciation to them, I only felt connected to them recently, which was why I started to take notice, this Owl I feel chose me & we crossed paths for a reason! I do feel there is something for me to learn & is why she came to me, she has helped me during my dark periods & pointed out what I needed to concentrate on, but she always came to me as a friend!

The owl has a connection to your personal journey, so it's better for you to discover the answer to your question in your own time. I agree with Keriix, it really doesn't matter whether they're a totem animal or something else entirely. What's most important is your personal connection to them.

Thank you Tarvos! I do feel she is with me because she is connected to my personal journey! My feelings on it are that I don't feel she is a Totem Animal, she's a friend & a Guide most likely, but she feels more like a teacher & has a message for me, or most likely brings the messages to me so I can receive them! My feelings are that I am connected to this particular spirit Owl, despite my recent interest in Owls, this one came to me for a reason! Does anyone think I should give her a name? I feel like I should!

The Owl has a name. If you connect more with them, they may share their name with you. I really like owls. I even follow a YouTube channel that features hidden cameras capturing their daily antics. But I haven't felt any calling to any owl just yet.

Thank you for the advice, I hope she shares her name with me! I always loved Owls but never felt a total connection to them, despite the mythical aspects, this particular Owl I do, it's like she came to me, knowing I needed her!
