I am curious if even a picture is enough to identify and move to a location for a spirit, similar to how a picture of an item is enough for a conjuror to connect and bind to an objectAnahata wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 12:02 am
And now with modern technology like web cam apps and chatrooms etc.
From personal experience the web cams act as portals, if someone has something(s) in their house or attached to them, just like in the streets the spirits/entities can jump from host to host, the same applies with web cams.
They can come through a live web cam stream, I am not sure if it's possible from a live recording replayed later (no live connection) but definitely through live web cam to web cam connections.
This is how I got a shadow person attachment many years ago, don't know what it was but it was blacker than black and was not human even though it had a human like shape.

This has come up with my keep, but I don’t think I’ll actively be seeking out these types of locations with them. A large number of the ghost hunter shows that I have seen seem to take place in some creepy setting with a spirit who either had something terrible happen or they did terrible things in life. I don’t really have an interest in visiting places with that type of energy. Watching ghost hunter shows leaves me feeling pretty upset and sad for the spirit involved anymore.
However, I DO think it would be fun to get some of the gear that the ghost hunters use and have my companions interact with it. They’ve already expressed an openness to trying it, even if its just for the fun of it.
While I don’t seek out ‘tourist attraction haunted places’ I routinely love being out in nature with my spirits. The world is full of spirits after all, not just the creepy abandoned asylums or old forgotten castles. Out in nature, the setting is usually more relaxed and the energy is much lighter than the average place people go looking for ‘spirit activity’.

Chiming in with a bit of a different perspective here, the home I grew up in and started spirit keeping in was haunted, it was (and still is) haunted by three cat ghosts the ghost of an elderly gentleman and the ghost of a middle aged woman with long black hair. There was even poltergeist activity in that house when I was a lot younger. I don't remember much of that other than finding assorted kitchen utensils scattered across the garden on some days. Though there has been a recent resergence with low level polterguist activity but I am not comfortable going into the details as to why that might be in a public setting like this forum thread.
Now add in to what I've just mentioned, the fact that with one swift hop over the fence at the end of the garden, you landed in the local cemetery among the graves where they could not afford fancy headstones.
I never had any issues with the ghosts in the house, though I did (and still do) feel uncomfortable in the garden at times, especially by the back fence. I would get goosbumps every time I walked past the cemetary as a child. Though those feelings were not the ghosts that 'haunted' the house they were something else entirely. They were possibly as a result of the local land spirits being miffed off that they had their home turf developed and built upon, their local rivers choked up with crap and culverted out of sight. Where I lived used to be farmland with water meadows until the Metropilitan Line was built and then it slowly became just another london suburb before the green land between London and the town ceased to exist and it was absorbed into the rest of the ugly urban sprawl that is Greater London.
Speaking of my my keep, before I moved out I did not have many companions in my keep and yhey didn't report having any issues with the ghosts in the house either, the ghosts were just 'there' doing their own thing and not interacting with me, my family or my keep. Polterguist activity wasn't occuring when I started spirit keeping.

As it's part of my spiritual vocation, I go to what you might call haunted/afflicted, or even cursed places to help cleanse the area in question, when and where appropriate, and as required. This means I travel around quite a bit. Needless to say, some unbounds tend to flee or become apprehensive in my presence.
An image and/or drawing can indeed act as a portal. You are capturing a moment in space and time, and as time is not linear, it can be traced.Rando3000 wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 9:12 pm I am curious if even a picture is enough to identify and move to a location for a spirit, similar to how a picture of an item is enough for a conjuror to connect and bind to an objectReally interesting about being able to jump through live streams.

I don't intentionally go to known haunted places. However, as a medium, I am drawn to areas where spirits need help and feel "stuck", so I've been to some pretty random places.
Growing up in southern USA, I loved visiting civil war sites, though I always walked away sad. When I was young, all I could really do for such angry/depressed places was help channel some of that energy away from it, kinda pass it through me to bleed it off so the land/spirits have a respite. Once I accepted being a medium, I can do much more, helping spirits who need to tell their stories, helping them move on (if that's what they choose, I don't force anyone to 'go toward the Light' or whatever).
I can tell you as a lifelong medium, spirits are EVERYWHERE. Some people hang around here on earth after their life is over to just enjoy being here without the limitations of a physical body. Some want to haunt someone. Some feel stuck. Some want acknowledgement/attention. Nature spirits are incredibly abundant, though usually reclusive. Astral/visiting spirits pass through. There are layers upon layers of intelligent beings that share our space here on Earth.
P.S. I am drawn to cemeteries every time I pass one. Know why? They are one of the few places that have LESS spirits than the average landscape. People who are buried rarely actually stay by their physical bodies; they go back to where they think is home, or they visit family/friends/enemies, etc. Why would they hang around a graveyard? There's not much going on there spiritually (again, usually).
Graveyards are powerful liminal spaces though, so they often have neutral spiritual protectors who guard the place. But yeah, they're mostly empty, lol. They're soooo quiet for me! Gives me a true break from rando spirits who want something.

I can update my opinion on this subject, lol.
I recently stayed in a haunted hotel, with all of my companions, of course.
And I came home with a new friend, lol.
I still wouldn't go into a place known to be dangerous because I value the safety of my companions--but anywhere else? Hey, never know who you're going to run in to, and what kind of connection you may make... (Obviously there is safety measures in place with a skilled group of entities around you.)
(Oh, and the hotel is still 'haunted'--she loves that place too much to leave it completely!)

A wise Earthen Elemental Wolf Spirit once said to me,
"Why speak magick? Be magick!"

I have been to haunted places with my keep, but that's because I had to be there for real life matters.
There was more activity than usual that wasn't solely due to my keep, but there were no real issues with anything there. I think the background of the place was sad and the spirits stuck there were also really sad, and tbh I was expecting them to be resentful but they were just sad. They left us alone and we left them alone, though one of the spirits did end up playing with one of my companions.
I don't have time to actively go ghost hunting, but maybe in the future when I'm a bit more freed up. I'm not opposed, just don't think it's a priority for me.

Yesterday evening I was forced to have a pint of beer in a pub because my trains were cancelled.
It's one of the oldest in Britain. Was rebuilt just before the English Civil War (1642-1651), supposedly dates back to the 1200s. It looks the part from the outside and inside but when you go in it has the warm, convivial feeling of a place where people have enjoyed drinking and socialising for centuries and that has soaked into the walls.
And it has a reputation for being one of the most haunted pubs in Britain. Online articles vary but 53 spirits has been mentioned as having been noticed. I don't get the feeling there that there's malevolence there.
There was a Civil War massacre of around a thousand Parliamentary troops nearby there by Royalists during the Civil War. The Earl of Derby spent his last hours prior to his execution there. Tales of staff experiences with other spirits in the cellar etc.
So, yes, I'm a spirit keeper with quite a large entourage of spirit companions when I'm out and and about, so I had no worries.
The place felt fine, as I said. It was pretty full as it's the August Bank Holiday here. A young woman with an Ankh pendant and piercings was serving. As I waited, another woman with an upside down pentangle pendant came in and greeted a guy next to me. I wondered if a local pagan moot might take place here occasionally. (Apparently that's at another tavern, although the last census records nearly 300 pagans,
witches and Satanists living in the town.)
Anyway...coming to the point...
My Leprechaun spirits love it when I visit a pub. They seem to sample all the beers on tap and make themselves at home.
So yesterday, I saw images of them enthusiastically pouring themselves pints. Then they tell me they've had a great chat with spirits there who've been drinking in that place for centuries.
Quite a place to go to. And the beer's good. I didn't go there on purpose to visit a haunted location . But it was a nice experience. For both me and my spirits, it seems.

Not the resident expert. Just another spirit keeper. Since 2017. Forum member since 2018.
