Etsy seller review: Magikal Rays
Owner: Rayna
Contents of this shop:
Mostly readings from your own personal readings to deity channeling readings.
Situation:
I was on a bind. My usual reader went to sick leave and there was a spirit family member on a situation that I needed to get an emergency reading done on the same day. I usually do my own communications but when I’m usually am upset. I can’t communicate well with my spirit family.
My overall impression:
Rayna delivered the reading on the same day as promised. It was okay not an earth shattering or completely wowed me. She did however addressed this issue of my companion’s situation (I’m not divulging any info for their confidentiality reasons).
Recent changes in her mean-girl attitude had soured my impression on her. I’m quite active in most spirit keeping groups except in discord groups. So I do see her activities in the group but if you chose not to respond when people ask you for questions (granted people have lives. I don’t expect them to respond asap) but that’s blatantly rudeness. Her responses to some posts comes across as condescending. It’s appreciated that you want to share your knowledge however, your attitude needs to tone down especially if you want people to see you as an established reader with empathy and humility.
Worth paying: maybe but quite expensive.

I realize this is a super old thread and im likely not to get a response but I tried out MagickalRays way back when they first opened and she responded very quickly and answered all of my questions. Her companions are also still some of my favorites! I also am a member of Spirit keeping and companionship which is a facebook group that's been up for some time where Rayna is active and shes been nothing but extremely warm and welcoming. I'm really concerned if she truly is as bad as you say because ive put my trust in her and everything. Can you send me any proof you have that shes rude or of any interactions you have had with her? How long did she take to respond?mystlady wrote: Tue Nov 29, 2022 5:27 pm Etsy seller review: Magikal Rays

Rayna is a kind seller and offers helpful advice, which I appreciate. That said, I’ve found it off-putting that she often presents herself as an authority on conjuring, despite originally relying on shufflemancy and tarot for her work which differs from direct spirit communication used by more experienced conjurors.
In my years of spirit keeping, I’ve noticed that people often connect with companions based on how much they like a shop’s presentation, rather than the depth of the work itself. Stores with fancy appearances or anime-style art can make spirits seem more appealing, but some of the best conjurors I’ve found are the ones who stay humble and rely on the work itself. Without the sleek branding and high prices, I’m not sure her spirits would be as impactful to others.

I mean I think we all have to start somewhere right? She may have started out in one direction but then grew and changed as she got better. Also Etsy charges crazy fees! Trust me I tried selling and I couldn’t make money with the fees without feeling like I was overcharging so I quit. In hindsight I sort of regret that. I did also check her page and saw that she’s been communicating with spirits since she was little. She uses a combination of Tarot/Oracle to verify, which I think is valid.
I don’t mind the anime pictures especially since she allows her spirits to pick their own portraits. I’ve seen a mix of styles on her page and frankly the overly realistic AI pictures freak me out. I get why people use them but I really don’t like them.
Ive also never gotten the sense she views herself as an authority. I went ahead and read her shop info on Shopify and she wrote that she wants the information she presents to be regularly available in one place as sometimes Metaphysical information is gatekept or withheld which I really appreciate! It’s nice to be able to have information condensed in one place instead of having to search around for it. Her store dosent seem overly stylized to me either. The cosmic theme is quite basic and the typography is pretty but not overdone. It’s aesthetically pleasing but not overly crazy.
Trinity of spirit who I’ve also spoken about has a similar price range and I like MagickalRays a little better for Spirit companions. I don’t really think price should be a factor when considering a stores viability or quality as Most spirits I’ve bought for 15 or even 30 don’t compare to the ones I’ve gotten from Trinity of spirit or MagickalRays but I also know that a lot of people get really good spirits for less than what I’d pay for them.
Anyways sorry for the long post! I guess it all comes down to personal preference in the end!

@AlannaCoreLove
Absolutely didnt mean to say she isn’t legit and that her work isn’t one of a kind, and I realized my previous comment was kind of dismissive. I got a wonderful spirit from Trinity of Spirits recently and the spirit is the most delightful , joyous being. One of my favorite places to get spirits which I was really surprised by is Inspiring Magick. I’ve gotten a few spirits from him that are active, reassuring and helpful and it’s amazing for the cost. Ive had two bad experiences with TheSpiritInn and for the high costs ,it felt like all I got were thought forms. Psychic Kitty Reese’s spirits are always present , special and have unique personalities. I got two from Phantom Alignment which are intense, beautiful beings that I love. So many sellers and it’s personal to everyone what they’re looking for.

This seller has a purity dragon listed which is something Dark Corner Conjures has made known in all of her listings that its exclusive to her store and Magickal Rays also has extremely vague descriptions of the spirits that are overly focused on what they look like. I don’t care what my spirits look like! This wouldn't be a shop that would be a first choice.
Also really about spirits that cost more pack a bigger punch? Really? It’s the sellers choice what they choose to sell their listings for and has nothing to do with the value of the spirits.

I had actually inquired about the purity dragon! It would appear to be a separate species as she explained hers are directly linked the Angelic Realm. I don’t really understand how spirits can be “exclusive”. I’ve never subscribed to that narrative but to each their own.
As for the descriptions, I asked about that as well. I would highly recommend reaching out to her because she’s so responsive! She explained that Etsy’s change in policy forced her to censor her listings. And she’s in the process of trying to either work around these censors or move off platform. She acknowledges the lack of spirit information is frustrating but that while she’s figuring things out she encourages people to reach out to her and ask whatever questions they may have. She’s more than willing to give detailed information out over messages! She just worries that her store will get taken down due to these new changes. She also had expressed to me that this her only source of income and so getting her store taken down would be devastating both to her and the spirits who she’s worked really hard to connect to, vet, and adopt out.
I also mentioned the prices because someone else had mentioned that her spirits were overpriced. I don’t think they are personally. I didn’t in any way mean to imply that it had any bearing on the “value?” Of a spirit, as I don’t think you can assign a value to any individual spirit. They’re all unique and lovely in their own way.

Regarding Transparency:
Hi there! This is Rayna from MagickalRays. I had no idea this forum existed and I would have joined in on the discussion a lot sooner had I been made aware! So to clear things up i've decided to just respond to everyone and hope that helps!
Addressing Mystlady:
So I want to start by addressing the initial post by Mystlady. I actually remember doing her reading years ago quite clearly and this was because at the time my power and almost all of the nearby residents had gone out for nearly a week. She had ordered a same day reading and I got her reading out as promised that same day. Back when I was doing same day readings I would always ask if the reading resonated and if they had any questions or concerns and I almost always offered to redo the reading if they weren't happy with the contents despite the strain and stress that would put on me. It was and still is very important to me that my clients walk away having had a good experience! She didn't respond and so I ended up thinking that everything was okay.
I woke up a few days later to my phone blowing up(My power was out at the time and I had managed to buy a portable charger to charge things) and I noticed that in the spirit companion group I was a regular in, this same client had begun disparaging me for not responding to her quickly enough. She had written effectively the same review as she did here and I was genuinely confused because I checked Etsy and Messenger and had seen no extra communication from her at all. She was eventually booted from the group when she began to fight with the admins who asked me and her to submit any evidence and they sided in my favor. Before she was booted, I offered apologies for not seeing any messages, explained numerous times I was dealing with a power outage, and that I would refund her if she was that unhappy but nothing I said seemed to make her happy. That was the first and only bad experience I've had with a client and I still to this day have no idea what happened and why she lashed out at me like that.
I've never once been mean. I don't even consider myself blunt. I was bullied by so-called Mean girls in high school and I'm honestly mortified I've been compared to them! I really wish I had clarity on what went wrong here but I don't think I'll ever get that. I did feel the need to defend myself and to try and tell my side. Unfortunately the group admin is no longer active for the facebook group and it appears all her messages and posts have been deleted despite trying to find them in the group. That's all I'll say on the matter and I welcome Mystlady to come forth via private channels to speak with me to find a resolution. I really really don't want to leave things in such a bad state but I also understand its been many years now and I'm likely not to get a response.
Addressing my Pricing
Onto pricing, So as many of my regulars know I'm not a businesswoman. This was my first time opening an online store and I had no idea what I was doing. I learned the hard way that if I priced things too low I'd burn out really quickly and if I priced things too high my spirits wouldn't get adopted out. So I began to experiment with my pricing and offering sales and discounts when I could. I am on disability and I use the funds I get to pay for my cats(one of which has special needs) as well as afford other basic necessities. I don't rely on this business for income but rather use it as a supplement where my disability falls short. Above all else my duty is to the spirits in my care first and foremost and I do not see myself as a businesswoman or even a seller of spirits. The goal was never about the money and it never will be about the money. I can survive for the most part without it and my dedication remains solely to the spirits in my care.
Etsy takes about 15 percent of sales from each listing sold and this is really debilitating when just starting out. Add on top of that advertising fees and it's really hard to make any sort of profit. Again and I really want to reiterate this my goal is to match humans and spirits and it's not about any sort of profit. Rather I've been struggling to find the balance between what's a reasonable adoption fee and what will cause me to burn out really quickly. I had to learn a lot about how Etsy works, how their algorithm works, what I wanted to do and how all of that fit together and that's not an easy process.
About Timelines
Now for the when. Anyone who reads my background or even just asks me about it(because I truly value transparency) knows that I've been conjuring spirits since I was young. I didn't start officially posting about it until May years ago which is when I got comfortable within the spiritual companion community. I am not a social media person, I am very private and reserved so I don't often post and lurk often.
So as User Senara pointed out, I may have joined the community way back when but only started posting about what I was doing months later after lurking a bit. I can understand where the confusion comes from honestly. I actually did not post my first spirit on my store until waaaay later when I was truly comfortable offering them. I really felt that I needed to be certain of my methods, make sure my vetting process was sound, and ensure that my home and lifestyle were compatible with what I wanted to do.
About my communication Methods
As for my communication methods, I can see where Cosmickitten87 got the idea that I rely on those methods but I have been a clairvoyant and clairaudiant since I was about 4. I post regularly about Tarot/oracle and shufflemancy because I think they're more fun than the standard way I communicate! I also just love Tarot and have tons of decks that I like to showcase and share.
About my backround and graphics/Listing art
I also have a background in graphic design. I went briefly to school for a graphical design program which I ended up dropping out of due to it ending up being more web design oriented and that was not something I wished to do with my life. However I still retain almost all of what I've learned in those classes and I genuinely really like creating pretty graphics! I don't make them to entice people though I'm sure it helps, I just genuinely love sitting at my computer putting things together that look nice! That's why every so often my store gets an overhaul when it comes to the graphics I use! I just really love that aspect of things!
Adressing RougeArcturian's Concerns
Finally to address RougeArcturian, I actually spoke with DarkCornerConjures in reference to what you said about the purity dragon. They offer Ancestral purity dragons where mine are Angelic. There's a HUGE difference between the two! I have DarkCornerConjures explicit permission to keep the listing up and I've also offered to link her store within my own listing to avoid further confusion. Feel free to reach out to me on Etsy for any copies of my DM’s with DarkCornerConjures.
As for the listing descriptions, I'm currently working on adding more! Etsy unfortunately flagged me twice now for issues within my listings descriptions and they wont tell me why which is extremely frustrating for both myself and clients who want the information up front. I used to have incredibly detailed descriptions but I've had to scale back and be very careful or risk losing everything and it would not be just me that's affected by that but the spirits as well.
Final thoughts
I have opened up a shopify shop but it's incredibly expensive to run and I'm not making enough to justify keeping it open(I've lost about 300ish dollars, mainly due to an advertising Muck up which is a ton of money for me).
On top of all of this I do have a plethora of chronic health issues as well as ADHD so I can only do so much in a day without burning out completely. I am truly sorry if anyone had a bad experience. I genuinely encourage anyone to come forth privately or publicly and speak with me, as I'm completely mortified that I was not made aware of any of these issues and that people may have been hurt or felt they couldn't speak to me.
I really love what I do, I love my job, I love the people I get to meet online because of it, I love my spirit family and deities, I just love being in this community and I really hope that this has helped clear up some of the misunderstandings that may have been going around.

Your graphics for your store are extremely beautiful and your shop stands out from many of the other ones, like it’s a more personal and intimate experience. There arent many conjurers on ETSY anymore and definitely not many that I trust. Definitely a thing where you can tell when one is doing it because it’s digital and easy which I hate to say but feels true. I feel a lot of good energy around your store and your work and admire what you do. I hope you stay open for a long time and keep on rising
