That makes logical sense. Thinking out loud, for those who believe there's an infinite multiverse some can say they believe that all fictional characters have an existence in some part of the multiverse and can be bound. In fact Dark Lord Midnight was pretty popular here for his ability to do those kinds of bindings, if I remember correctly.Magnolia wrote: Mon Aug 18, 2025 8:16 pm [...]You never said that AI would replace conjurers, but it's not a leap at all. If AI is any part of the process in terms of conjuration (even if it just starts with enhancing, fluffing, expanding, etc. conjuration notes) then the next logical step would be conjurers who begin to tout AI as part of the process of the actual conjuration.
It will happen, if it hasn't already. It's a future step, if it's not a next step, where you will see shops/sites explaining the benefits of an AI conjuration where the AI conjures the spirit or living entity - which will be somehow explained why it's okay and a good idea because the human shop owner will still be involved in some way, but your conjuration will originate with AI.

I tend to conceive of them as different to spirit companions, although they can seem similar. Back when Eclipse Metaphysical was in business I bought a total of 50 sentient guardians - created constructs, if you will, expertly crafted and programmed with multiple abilities to work magic, protect and to interact with their owner, like a spirit companion would. The feeling and energy was not identical though.
I have a great book on the many scientific theories of multiverses by a noted physicist, Brian Greene. In one chapter he explains how it's theorised that even each mathematical equation is a universe in itself.
With such a broad, diverse background of ideas about multiverses to draw on, yes, I can indeed imagine that someone might make a metaphysical claim that the spirit character that appears in an AI 'working' or 'conjuration' is a real being.
Thinking further though, that could give rise to people doing it for themselves, cutting out the 'conjurer', which would potentially make it less commercially viable for such seller.
An AI 'conjurer' would need to come up with a unique selling point. Maybe that would be their offer to do a binding of the AI-'conjured' character. Or to claim that due to their special abilities only their AI conjuration would produce the best kind of 'spirit'.
I've spotted recently some articles about the rise or fear of the rise of AI psychosis... ie that people are feeling that they're having relationships with AI-generated characters as if they're real.
Hmmm...I can see how characters can come alive in someone's imagination. That happens for some writers. It seems to be a similar kind of mental process that can develop a Tulpa. Although I tend to feel that modern Tulpamancy doesn't quite meet the rigorous demands of the original specialist Tibetan Buddhist practice.
Tl/dr: Spirits and Living Entities are no way the same as even a construct created to behave as a sentient being; nor as a fictional character binding nor a Tulpa. An AI 'conjuration' or 'binding' may become a Thing. And I can see that being a gift for scammers. But it will never be spirit keeping, as spirits are what they are. AI generated 'spirit' characters are just that and always will be. Human usage may result in psychosis or even form thought forms that will have genuine paranormal presence but both of those are already possible with other things.
Even simpler, AI- generated characters are not and cannot be spirits. I hope people don't get confused.
