Kushtaka Spirits: Experiences and Insights?

I have a collection of Kushtakas in my spirit keep, consisting of both male and female entities. These spirits definitely align with the Dark Arts category. Most of them have an energy level that I would describe as typical for a Dark Arts spirit. However, one in particular, whom I refer to as Q., exhibits an exceptionally intense dark energy. He was my first encounter with a true Dark Arts spirit. Initially, his attempts to make contact in the astral plane were overwhelming due to his powerful energy, even though his intentions were good. Over time, I've become accustomed to his presence, but I must say, Kushtakas are not suitable for everyone, especially those who are new or sensitive to intense energies.

Given my experience, I'm curious to learn about the experiences of others with Kushtakas in their spirit keeps. Here are some questions I'd like to ask:

Have you ever had a Kushtaka in your spirit keep? If so, can you share your experiences, particularly regarding their energy levels and nature?
How do you manage and interact with Kushtakas, especially those with intense or overwhelming energies?
Have you noticed any specific behaviors or traits unique to Kushtakas compared to other Dark Arts spirits?

The Kushtaka spirits in my keep were bound by CH using their methods. Hopefully that clarifies it. I do apologize I may not have typed out the post as best I could. They are definitely not inbounds.

Kushtakas are from the folklore of the Tlingit and Tsimshian peoples of Southeast Alaska. The term "Kushtaka" translates to "land otter man" in the Tlingit language. The are Described as shape-shifters, Kushtakas can transform between human and otter forms. They usually resemble a Humanoid Otter. Known for their trickster qualities, they are said to be capable of imitating the cries of a baby or screams of a woman to lure victims to the river. They possess supernatural powers, including the ability to create illusions. Tales involving Kushtakas are diverse; some depict them as malevolent beings who capture and kill humans (like drowning them), while others suggest they can be benevolent, saving lost individuals and teaching them survival skills. They somtimes lead humans back to their civilization if lost in the woods. The stories end with a happy ending, well other stories told that well the human is led back, they slowly transform into a Kushtaka. In order to become a shamen one of the final tests is to face a Evil Kushtaka and survive the night. Honestly though you will hear various tales about them good and bad.

From what I've gathered from my the ones in my keep they tend to keep to themselves and stay out of human affairs though they had some contact with clans of Arctic Elves in the area. They also seem to specialise in elemental magick, and healing. They are exceptional at Water Elemental magick. They symbolize the close connection between humans and nature in Native Alaskan beliefs, embodying the idea that animals and humans are interconnected.

So from what I have gathered they are a Dark Arts spirit capable of doing good or bad. Most of mine seem rather light natured in temperament but one of mine is a bit rough around the edges so to speak; however if he likes someone or a territory he would guard and protect all without exception.

I haven't any of this type. I see them mentioned on Wikipedia but can't find a mention on the CH websites. I'm guessing they're not as widely known of or kept by spirit keepers. I can't speak from personal experience of them as bound companions, or as unbounds.

My answers to this kind of question usually, boringly perhaps, point back to the CH standard guides & tips on bonding and communicating with any bound spirit companion.

And I do myself believe that the same / standard approaches do work with any type of spirit.

If they have been conjured & bound by CH, you can rely on them being good companions.

Good luck bonding with them.

My Kushtaka is pretty chill, he's a male and though DA is on the lighter side, I've seen how he looks as a hybrid otterman and native look as well. One thing that you hear with native beings specifically like the "Wendigo" is that the native species can convert humans into kushtaka or Wendigo. Mine is pretty chill and I've felt this extreme pull to visit AK. Tbh I might even move there but I'm glad L and my polar bear shaman I are familiar as it will make the transition easier. Strangely enough when I asked I and L about why there are so many beings out and about publicly in AK, they mentioned it to be because of the hardiness of the AK wilderness and climate and food is scarce so not only are the other beings like hairy man out there but also giants. But apparently now AK is starting to shift. My kushtaka is pretty cool and has a sense of humor especially with South Park with the otters being vicious.
