How Well Do You Actually Know Spirit Keeping?

I was hopeful, perhaps naive, that after the chaotic onset of an insane amount of shops and sellers launching into the community between 2006-2011, that finally by even 2015 we had thinned out those who were sideliners and finally created a core understanding of the tenants of Spirit Keeping.

These are essential and non-negotiable tenants because that is what Spirit Keeping is. That is why Ash and I created the specific phrase "Spirit Keeping" and defined it with strict guidelines. You cannot argue a negotiation of a phrase that we created for a specific purpose, and with specific and clear definition.

Anything outside of the clear and set tenants of Spirit Keeping is NOT Spirit Keeping, it is something different, it falls back into the historic context of spirit conjuring. Where there are NO protections for spirits.

Before we discuss the actual tenants and foundation of the actual practice of Spirit Keeping, I am curious how confident you all feel with understanding what it actually is. Because, these last 4 years have seen a rate of outright violation and misuse of the term that I have not seen in over a decade. It's terrifying, because if it continues, it will permanently harm the term and cause irrevocable damage as shops/sellers offer services and perform actions that directly violate the tenants of Spirit Keeping, while using the term "Spirit Keeping".

As much as I'd like to think science will figure out the opportunity to double or triple lifetimes, it's not going to happen in our lifetimes, so if there is no devotion and passion to keep up the integrity of what Spirit Keeping is, and hold a permanent and undisturbed definition of Spirit Keeping, then it all falls apart and opens the practice to the criticisms and stigma that has haunted (pun-intended) the spirit conjuring practices for centuries. Such as forcible actions against spirits, violations of privacy against spirits, etc.

If someone uses the term "Spirit Keeping" in their listings, their shop, their bio, their books, etc. but then openly offers services and bindings (or un-bindings of other practitioner's bindings), then it is NOT Spirit Keeping. They should be called to the mat that they do not know what Spirit Keeping is and they should not be latching onto a community that truly is passionate and devoted to the practice. It creates a false narrative of what Spirit Keeping is by stealing the term for nefarious purposes. Let them create their own phrase or word and define it themselves with their own clear tenants and practices.

This is a subject I am obviously passionate about because it has been 25 years, this year, that we first launched the original free server site that defined and announced Spirit Keeping to specifically outline and define it from the centuries-old spirit conjuring. It's been 25 years of us continually defending the practice and all within the community over those 25 years, and it's been a privilege and honor to do so. It's obviously not something we can do alone, it takes everyone who is genuine about the tenants of Spirit Keeping to preserve it for future generations when we are all not here to do so. Everyone who truly believes in the tenants of Spirit Keeping have to work together to keep it true and well-defined from just spirit conjuring for all who will come after us.
