Catoblepas have the body of a buffalo, head of hog and scales covering their back for protection. They can be a very intimidating presence; quickly warding off foes. Their heads are constantly down and walk with a sluggish pace. Their stare and breath turns humans to stone as many through history have avoided their path.
Though they are not as malicious as other dark entities they were still a force to be reckoned with when they were alive.
A Catoblepas has the ability to alter the immediate future, up to several minutes in time, often giving them the opportunity to confuse those around them. In the precious moments they alter, they can get away from a situation they don’t wish to encounter, or give them the upper hand in confronting an enemy. When you are working with any Dark Arts spirit (bound or unbound) there are times when you need the ability to make house rules clear for all. While Dark Arts spirit companions who have agreed to engage in Spirit Keeping are not malicious their intense energy and presence can sometimes be overwhelming. In these cases, we recommend using this method to create an atmosphere of balance.
