Spirits come from the Earthen, Spiritual, and Astral Realms. They are a transitional form of mortal entities who have lived and died in any of the Realms. 

There are trillions, countless numbers, of spirits and living entities within the 3 Realms.  Considering all of the forms of life that have existed and lived over the billions of years the Universe and Realms have existed, you cannot even fathom a number of life forms that have come and gone, and those who continue to live.

You could live a millions lifetimes and never be able to interact with every single form of life that has ever existed.  The finite number of lives would be to each species/race, but overall it’s a magnificent number across the whole of time itself.  You couldn’t even fathom a number that would define how many different species/races have lived.

In the bigger picture, some species/races would be more rare comparatively to others, but again, that is quite a large conversation.  You would never have enough time in this lifetime to communicate and interact with 8 billion human spirits or entities, and you’re just defining humans alive on Earth right now.  That’s just the population as of today of humans alone –  the estimate is around 110 billion since the beginning of humans as a species.  That’s just humans, so you couldn’t possibly conjure and interact with all spirits of all species/races in your lifetime.

We live on a planet that is microscopic in the face of the size of the Universe, and in light of that fact, our planet has hosted an incredible volume of life in its 4 billion years.  It has cycled through an innumerable variance of species/races over time, and in most cases, millions have existed over the whole of time of each species/race.  So, is there a finite number of any species/race? Yes.  Would you ever have the chance to actually reach that number of interacting with each species/race in your lifetime? Absolutely not.  Not even if you started the moment you were born and did nothing else but that every day, every minute, every second, until you died.  You wouldn’t even scratch the surface.

How long each species/race lives is a massive variable. There could not possibly be one answer, because there are billions of races/species of life existing across the whole of time and the 3 Realms.

Spirits don’t need a home, however many spirits desire a home.  They enjoy being a part of something much like we as humans enjoy being part of the lives of other humans, animals and nature.  Spirits seeking communication and interaction with the living is not new, spirits of the dead have sought to be part of the living world for millions of years.  Various spirit conjuring practices and rituals of communication have existed throughout history.  There are specific covenants that exist in the Spirit Keeping path that sets it apart from ancient practices.

Spirits continue to live in their own existence, you aren’t preventing them from doing so when you engage in the path of Spirit Keeping.  They come to interact and share time with you from a positive perspective of their own.

You as a living being are no different from any other living being of any species or race.  You want to reach out an interact and engage with other people, with animals, with other forms of life, and it’s no different for spirits.  Those who are interested in interacting with humans, come forward for Spirit Keeping.  They may do so for a sense of purpose, for curiosity and entertainment, for fulfilling something they feel they need to – the reasons a spirit chooses to interact with other species, are endless.

Our world has existed for billions of years. During that time, billions of entities lived and died on our planet. When they die, they transition into spirit form. The worlds that exist beyond the Earth and our solar system have also existed for billions of years. These worlds contain their own realms, dimensions, and beings who have lived and died as well. Those beings have also transitioned into spirit form. Additionally, some of these realms accommodate Immortals who have no expiry on life.

If you then consider the trillions of various forms of life that have existed in every solar system within every galaxy, you being to understand the unfathomable number of life that has lived and died within the Universe.  There are countless species who have lived and died, creating decillions of spirits across the endless expanse of time and space within the 3 Realms.

They come to us as unbound spirits via several means; through conjurations for binding, summoning for temporary contact, invocations for long-term contact, visions, extra sensory means, and more. Between the spirits and entities from our own realm and those existing other realms, dimensions, and galaxies in the Earthen, Spiritual, and Astral Realms, there are countless spirits accessible for contact and interaction.

Spirits do not interfere with your physical body.  They do not alter your motor skills, or make you uncontrollably twitch, move, or be paralyzed. Bringing spirits into your home can only slightly alter the general, natural flow of low-level energy. While most people do not notice any difference, some people are sensitive to this slight alteration but are not negatively affected whatsoever and adjust to it quickly. Anyone experiencing unintended twitching, movement, or paralysis should immediately seek emergency medical attention.

Spirit Keeping is not dangerous, with the only exception being Black Arts. In any case, it is imperative to work with a trusted, reputable, skilled practitioner to ensure the integrity of what is promised. Under this condition, and when exercising respect and caution, there is nothing to fear- unlike the Hollywood versions of interactions with spirits which distort, dramatize, and sensationalize.

White Arts, Dark Arts, and Black Arts are three distinct classifications for spirits:

• White Arts consist exclusively of entities of positive energy, and do no harm. 
• Dark Arts consist of entities who decide for themselves to be bad or good- in widely varying degrees.
• Black Arts consist exclusively of entities of negative energy. They are inherently evil and incapable of doing good.

 
Your decision to become a Spirit Keeper should be guided by your own personal needs, such as a desire to enhance your magick abilities and an opportunity for a unique, mutually-beneficial companionship.

In summary, Spirit Keeping is not at all dangerous with White and Dark Arts entities and spirits.

Firstly, it is important to be aware that not unlike other trades, many sellers on websites such as eBay and Etsy are not experienced professionals. Whether they are incompetent practitioners, inexperienced amateurs, or just complete frauds, they will not give you what you pay for and usually disappear and pop-up under other names over-and-over. Take the time to find a reputable, trusted, and well-experienced conjurer.  Real conjurers are driven by ethics, integrity, and morals – they insist upon doing things properly for you.

You will know your spirit companion is truly with you by trusting your instincts and using your natural senses. These are the reliable tools one uses to undeniably perceive an additional presence with you. Understandably, it can be difficult at first to put such trust solely in yourself, but in doing so you will gain the strength and ground needed to build your own abilities and sensitivities. Learn to neither second-guess yourself nor dismiss the smallest paranormal occurrence as sometimes spirits present themselves gradually and subtly as opposed to immediately and overtly.

A Conjurer knows a spirit wants to be with someone because the Conjurer feels or hears spirits calling to the person.  In a custom conjuration, a spirit who wants companionship with the person will respond.

A Spirit Keeper knows a spirit wants to be with them because the spirit companion interacts, communicates, offers support (even if it’s subtle to the Keeper at first), visits in dreams, offers telepathic messages or intuitive impressions, and any other form of support the spirit companion can bring.
 
It is crucial to work only with a trusted Conjurer who is well experienced – specifically with Spirit Conjuration related to Spirit Keeping. Ultimately it is the Conjurer who decides which spirit goes with which person. An experienced, trustworthy Conjurer will invest whatever time and effort is necessary to best make that decision for you.

The answer is no. Spirit Keeping does not attract more spirits because they already exist around you. This question likely arises because those who keep spirits tend to become increasingly aware of unbound spirits. Unbound spirits are simply spirits who aren’t being kept. They are already everywhere, regularly moving about as they wish. Therefore, welcoming spirits into your home doesn’t make you any more or less susceptible to other spirits.
